negroes.  While there they were
attacked by some Rebel Cavalry.
Capt. Whitney shot the Rebel
officer in command and
several others were Killed.

     The Rebels were led to
the spot by blood hounds
that had been put on the
track of the negroes.

     Nearly all of the dogs were
killed.
