At the request of Capt. John Lindsey of this place I write- Capt. Lindsey was elected Lieut in the Artillery several years ago. I think when that company was organized at the breaking out of the war he volunteered with the members of the company and went to Bangor and was on considerable expence- A short time before the commencement of the war he was raised by ( ? ) of the Artillery from 4th Lt to 3rd Lt or from 3rd to 2nd I think-but did not get
