Q. He was in and about the fire
room a great deal was he? A. Yes sir
Q. Is it very cold in the fire room?
A. It is not very. Directly in front of
the boilers it is uncomfortably warm. But 
when the doors are open it is very
chilly a little distance off.
Q. When he was in the fire room was
be at work or not? A. No sir, he
never stopped, only to dump his load of coal
and go out.
Q. What clothing did the engineer and fireman wear
A. The fireman when, they were wheeling
in coal, put on an extra coat; and when
the doors were shut he used to take his coat
off.
Q. An extra coat. You mean one coat? A. Yes.
Q. You dont mean he had 2 coats on? A. Some
times he had 2 on if I remember right.
He had a little coat on and no vest;
and I think some time he used to put another coat on.
Q. Did the fireman have to do with the
wheeling of the coal? A. No, sir. I have
seen him wheel coal. I think the fireman
wore 2 shirts, a vest, some times a light coat
