General Orders Boston July 22d 1789
In order that a perfect Record may be kept hereafter of all Officers actually in Commission in the Militia of the Commonwealth; it is Required, that in all Returns of Officers elected, the Vacancies may be accounted for in the Column of "Remarks" in the Blanks prepared for that purpose, by inserting opposite the officers names returned, as follows, Viz.
Vice A B Discharged, promoted, deceased, removed out of the County etc. as the case may be -- No Returns will be received hereafter without this necessary addition -
