Yours of the 2nd inst. requesting descriptive rolls and clothing accounts of Private Jno. H. McMullen Co K 2nd Regt. Maine Vols. is received, and in answer would state, that by an order issued by the War department all paroled prisoners must report at Annapolis or they will be considered the same as absent without authority & reported as deserters. Said Private being absent from his Company without authority has been dropped from the rolls in compliance with General Orders No 92 War department, and marked a deserter. If exchanged you will please send him to his regiment if not to Annapolis under arrest and any other cares of this kind coming under your notice by serving them the same you will much oblige.
