I have just come from the 2d Maine Regiment where I have been spending a few days.
Capt Tilden of Castine informes me unless he shall be able to obtain a furlough of some weeks, he shall resign. In this case I want to ask the favor that the 1st Lt. W.H. Mudgett of the Company be promoted to Capt & that Parker Mudgett of the same company
