Hancock, SS - At the Supreme Judicial Court[handwritten] begun and holden at Castine, within said for the County of Hancock, on the twentyfourth[handwritten] day of June[handwritten] and by adjournment thereof from day to day, on the [blank] day of [blank] in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three[handwritten] before the Honorable Prentiss Miller[inserted] + Nathan Weston Jr. [handwritten] Judge of Said Court
ON this twentyfourth[handwritten] day of June[handwritten] in the year 182 3[handwritten] [1823] personally appeared in open court aforesaid [blank] the same proceeding according to the course of common law, having jurisdiction unlimited in amount, keeping a record of their proceedings, and having "the power of fine and imprisonment," and being a Court of Record for said County Solomon Barber[handwritten] aged seventy six[handwritten] years, who, being duly sworn, according to law, doth, on his oath, made the following declaration, in order to obtain the provision made by the acts of Congress, of the 18th March 1818, and the last 1st May, 1820, that he, the said, Solomon Barber[handwritten] enlisted for the term of nine months[handwritten] on the twentyfifth[handwritten] day of March[handwritten] in the year 1776[handwritten] in the state of Massachusetts[handwritten] in the company commanded by captain Silas Wilder[handwritten] in the regiment commanded by colonel Phinney[handwritten] in the line of the state of Massachusetts[handwritten] on the [squiggle] continental establishment; that he continued to serve in the said corps until the first day of January 1777[handwritten] when he was discharged from the said service, in Albany[handwritten] in the state of New York[handwritten] that his name has been placed on the pension list, and dropt therefrom on account of his property.
And, in pursuance of the act of the 1st May, 1820, I do solemnly swear that I was a resident citizen of the United States on the 18th day of March, 1818; and that I have not, since that time, by gift, sale, or in any manner, disposed of my property, or any part thereof, with intent thereby so to diminish it as to bring myself within the provisions of an act of Congress, entitled "An act to provide for certain person engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the Revolutionary war," passed on the 18th March, 1818; and that I have not, nor has any person in trust for me, any property, or securities, contracts, or debts, due to me; nor have I any income other than what is contained in the schedule hereto annexed, and by me subscribed; that my occupation and ability to pursue the same, together with the number and other particulars of my family are in fact and in truth as is herein particularly described, also scheduled by me.
That, since the exhibition of my first schedule, the following changes have been made in my property.
