I John Higgins of Hampden in the County of Penobscot Yeoman, aged seventy six, do humbly testify & say, that on or about the first of August. in year of what was called the Rhoad Island Expedition[underlined], but I cannot now be certain as to what year it was, I inlisted into the service of the United States for the term of nine months in Capt. Job Crockers Company, then of Welfleet on Cape Cod; The Regiment, I do not now recollect: I served my time out, being stationed, on Rhoad Island; and was regularly discharged. I think in May following. I have lost my discharge; am now under reduced circumstances; and need the assistance of my Country for support. I humbly relinquish all claim to any previous Pension for my said Services. Witness my hand. Ap 111 John Higgins

On the 10th day of April Before me the subscriber, one of the judges of the Third Common Pleas, in said Commonwealth, including the Court and Penobscot: Personally appeared John Higgins, who, being by me first duly sworn according to law, on his declaration by him subscribed, and hereto annexed, in order [words are missing, page cut off] by the late act of Congress, entitled "An Act to provide fo [part of page is missing] land and naval service of the United States, in the revolutionary war.
