last night and you do not know how glad I was to hear from you I do not know where the letter has been so long coming it ought to come in two days but I got it at last I was sorry to hear of poor Marys sickness but hope she will be better now Charly and Hattie I am glad they have got through with the measles Leyman I was glad to hear so good a report from him tell him from father to keep on being steady and a good boy my handker- chief I have not got for that you directed to the regiment and I do not know when I shall get it but I have a cloth that answers for me you spoke of sending me a box you had better not if you see any possibility of getting
