Petition of Selectmen of Couinna & Dexter that certain school district in those towns lying contiguous to each each other may be united & made into one - was read & referred to Messrs Williams, Parlin & Spaulding

Agreeably to assignment the two branches met in the Representatives Chamber and proceeded by ballot to the election of seven Counsellors - and on counting the ballots it appeared the whole number of votes given in for a Counsellor for York County was 153 necessary to a choice 77 that Daniel Wood Esqr had 136 & was chosen - the whole number for Cumberland County was 153 necessary to a choice 77 that William Chadwick Esqr had 149 & was chosen - the whole number for Lincoln County was 153 necessary to a choice 77 that James McLellan Esqr had 124 & was chosen - for Hancock County the whole number was 153 necessary to a choice 77 that Daniel Merrill Esqr had 148 and was chosen - for Washington & Penobscot the whole number given in was 153 necessary to a choice 77 - that John Balkam Esquire had 147 & was chosen - for Kennebec County the whole number given in was 153 necessary to a choice 77 - that Abraham Morrill Esqr had 148 & was chosen - for Oxford & Somerset County the whole number given in was 153 necessary to a choice 77 that Joseph Lock Esqr had 78 and was chosen.

The convention then proceeded to the choice of a Secretary of State - the whole number of ballots was 154 - necessary to a choice 78 - Amos Nichols Esqr had 153 and was duly elected.
