I am a little anxious to know whether there is a probability that Dr A will return, or if I am to remain but a few weeks at farthest, I do not wish to incur the expense of purchasing a horse, uniform, and various other articles which would be of very little value to me if I should leave here. The Regt. has just had a new uniform have been paid off and are in the [?] in very good condition. Though a few are yet here who ought to be discharged.

All Dr. McR’s efforts in this direction availed very little, as he did not learn how to accomplish what he desired for the good of the Regt. Gaining
