After calling upon the Surgeon General, Pay Master Genl. etc. a number of times in regard to my pay as Surgeon to the 2d from 8th Aug. to Sept 1. as certified by Col Roberts, they decided that they could not recognize but one Surgeon, Dr Allen, & recommended me again to apply to you & then the govt here would arrange it with the State. In accord and with this advice I now ask you to pay to the order of Mrs. McRuer the amt. due me. Dr. Robie, who has interested himself in regard to the matter here, promises me to write you & I hope
