I improve the opportunity to express my deep regret at the loss which the State has sustained, and to add, as a just tribute of respect to the character of the deceased, that he was esteemed as a most meritorious officer.

Ordered that the Senate be requested to send to the House the report of the Commissioners appointed by the Governor & Council to examine into the doings and transactions of the several incorporated Banks in this State - read & passed. Sent up.
