Mr Cummings of Paris has leave of absence after Monday next during the remainder of the week.

On motion of Mr Alden of Brunswick, Ordered that the Senate be requested to take from their files and send to this House the petition of the President and Trustees of Bowdoin College, with the accompanying papers - read and passed. Sent up

Report of the committee on the order directing them to inquire into the expediency of passing a Law authorizing the Inhabitants of all incorporated towns & plantations to raise money & expend the same on highways as they may think proper, that legislation on this subject is not necessary, was accepted in concurrence with the Senate.

Report of the committee on the Order directing them to inquire into the expediency of altering or amending the existing law regulating town schools & repairs of School Houses, that alteration or amendment is not necessary, was accepted in concurrence with the Senate.

Report of the committee on the Order directing an inquiry into the expediency of so altering the 3d Sec. of an act respecting highways passed Feb. 24 1827 as that in all cases the Selectmen of towns and assessors of plantations shall be notified in writing, of the bad State of the Highways & the intention to complain, at least thirty days previous to information being made to the S.J Court or Court of Common Pleas, that legislation on the subject is inexpedient, came from the Senate accepted for concurrence - and the House refused to concur, & referred the subject matter
