The friends of Richard Kelliher who is now in hospital at Annapolis from the effects of a wound rec'd in a recent battle, desire a furlough for him in order that he may come home the more surely to recover his health. They also feel that he could be of much use here in the way of enlisting men from the Irish population of the City & would like to have papers given him for that purpose.

I am happy to say of Mr. Kelliher that I have known him for several years as a very intelligent, temperate, & efficient business man, honest & industrious. As assistant clerk
