Rainy day and so very uncomfortable. Chaplain Adams has been to tell me that there will be a communion service at the 16th N. Y. this afternoon and invites me. Shall I attend? I have not sat at the table of the Lord since the few days previous to my "leaving for the wars." I should be overjoyed to attend the Service with the church But [underlined]

Thou fit to sit at the table are only those who have believed and been baptized. Have these fulfilled the requirements. Dutch Reformed, Presbyterian, Free Will Baptists, Orthodox, +c

I shall not attend the service.
