IN SENATE, 17th DECEMBER, 1823. [Italics]Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Georgia in General Assembly met, and it is hereby resolv d by the authority of the same,[/Italics] That the following shall be proposed as an amendment of the Constitution of the United States:

That no part of the Constitution of the United States ought to be construed, or shall be construed, to authorize the important or ingress of any person of color into any one of the United States, contrary to the laws of such State.

And that his Excellency the Governor be, and he is hereby requested to communicate this resolution to the Governors of the different States, with a request that the same may be submitted to their respective Legislatures; and that he do also communicates the same to our Senators and Representatives in Congress.
