Ansd Feb 11 62 110 Head Quarters 2nd Maine Regt. Vols. Halls Hill Va, February 3, 1862
Genl S.L. Hodsdon Dear Sir, Your letter of Jany 31st came duly to hand, but not the commissions of Garnsey, Staples, and Forbes, which you will immediately forward - In relation to filling up this Regiment to the Army standard, I will say, that I shall need three hundred (300) men in the course of a month - This is not only the desire of myself, but the Brig and Division General are very anxious to see this a full Regiment I hope you will make this your especial business and without fail give me three hundred recruits in the course of a month - I remain Very Respectfully Your Obt Srvt Col.
