Leave to withdraw was ordered in concurrence with the Senate on the petition of Jesse Jewett & others - of Peol Tomer & others - and - of Selectmen of Phillips.
An order came from the Senate instructing the Committee on the Judiciary to inquire into the expediency of reducing the fees of clerks of the Judicial Courts & of regulating the fee bill, so as in no case to allow parties constructive travel, and no more than three days attendance for Plaintiff in any action in which the Defendant is defaulted, excepting in those cases where the Court, on special examination, shall otherwise order - and the House concurred.
Bill to incorporate the Franklin Manufacturing Company, was read a 1st & 2nd time & tomorrow at 10 o'clock assigned for a 3rd reading.
Bill to increase the Capital Stock of the Bank of Portland, was read once & tomorrow at 10 o'clock assigned for a 2nd reading.
Resolve for repair of Gunhouse in Brunswick was read twice and passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.
On motion by Mr. Boutelle of Waterville, Ordered, That the Clerk be authorized to cause the paper case upon the top of the Clerks desk to be lowered so that it shall not intercept the view of the members in the front seats from seeing the Speaker while sitting.
