Mr. Vose from the Committee on Contested Elections made a report adverse to the report of the majority of said Committee presented on the 4th inst and the same was read, and in connection with the majority report taken up for consideration. Mr. Boutelle of Waterville moved " to recommit so much of the majority report" as relates to the case of Rogers Decoster to the committee on Elections, with instructions to hear & consider such legal evidence in support of the remonstrance of Gideon Cushman Junr & others against the election of said Rogers Decoster as they may produce before the committee" and the motion was lost 47 in favor 89 against. Mr McCrate of Nobleboro then moved "to recommit so much of the majority Report of the Committee of Elections as relates to the election of William Noyes of Greenwood with instructions to receive such further evidence as may be submitted to them respecting it" - and the motion prevailed. The House on motion of Mr. McCrate of Nobleboro then accepted the remaining part of said report.
Ordered, that a message be sent to the Senate requesting that body to take from the files of the Senate of 1834 the remonstrance of the Inhabitants of the towns of Castine, Penobscot, Brooksville & Deer Isle against the petition to remove the Judicial Courts from Castine to Ellsworth and send the same to this House. Sent up.
