We missed Mr. McKee after dinner & he didn't appear to us till late in the afternoon. Guess where he had been on foot. Give up? All the way to the "tip top" of [start underline] Streaked Mountain [end underline]. This old man, 65 years of age, that has lived all his days fin N.Y. Few young men that think themselves smart would think of taking such a trip for pleasure. We rec @ a letter today from [Winchender?] mentioning, among other pleasant things, that uncle Jo. dined with you at the Pearl Strt. House. You will be glad to see Mr. Hall, and will sell him a bill of Goods. Give my respects to him if he is there when you receive this. We rec@. the things in Mr. Allen's box, & the things in uncle [?]'s box.
