I am sending[?] [illegible] "rare book" today & with it a copy of a most remarkable story - a kind of Scotch Wuthering Heights in a way - very strange[?], powerful - and very well done.  Claire Spencer is a Scotch-American. She is married to John Evans - the son of Mabel (Dodge) Luhan who has written several very personal[?] books - Lorenzo in Taos - & others.

Mrs Luhan was responsible for getting D. H. Lawrence out to Taos, New Mexico where she has lived 20 yrs. The Evanses are now permanent residents of Maine - at West Brooksville and are proud owners of a 90 acre farm on the banks of the Bagaduce River opposite Castine.
