Dear Sir: -
With reference to phone conversation, regarding tickets issued, baggage cars furnished, etc. on account of Halifax disaster on the east bound movement:
We have at the request of the Boston & Maine furnished them with total charges which were incurred on account of State of Maine request and the B&M. will endeavor to make collection from the Red Cross.. With reference to west bound movement transportation fur- wished by the Canadian Government Ry. at Halifax on State of Maine account we have just received bill rendered by them, the total amount being $229.64. and we have today written the C.C. Ry. copy to you, asking them to endeavor to make the collection west bound from the Red Cross. If this can be done there will of course be no bill presented to you from us, but if it develops that our understanding is incorrect we will, of course, look to State of Maine for settlement in due course of any accounts outstanding.
Am giving you this letter so that you know exactly how we stand in the matter.
Yours truly, M.L. Harris [signature] General Passenger Agent. D [handwritten] [stamped] RECEIVED A.G.Q. FEB 11 1918
