Subject: Work of Maine Medical Unit at Halifax.
Dear General Presson: --
Your letter of January 16th just at hand. I am referring it direct to Lieutenant Colonel Bell, Chairman of the Medical Relief Committee, who has all the data.
Certainly the Maine Medical Unit was one of the most valuable ones at Halifax and particularly noted for its efficiency and ability to handle any condition: It could not have done better work nor fulfilled its obligations better. Under Major Elliott, it was particularly self-reliant when such a trait was most valuable in the trying early days at Halifax. The Maine Medical Unit always had the reputation of doing anything it was called upon to do, and of doing it well, with little or no trouble to any of the Relief Committee.
