[handwritten letter follows] Brewer, Me R.5. June 3, 1940

Gov. Barrows,

Dear Sir: This has been on my mind and I leave it to you if it should go further. - Within 2 years, a foreign looking man took pictures of the Bangor Water Works, banks and the R. R. bridge both above & below. Chief of Police Bradbury was called but he let the man go after questioning. If Canada had to be helped that bridge will be blown up before anyone even thinks of guarding it.

I believe a campaign of every citizen being a spy for our U.S. will do much to offset the sleeping stage it has been in.

Oh yes, this picture man asked how far to the airport.

If this is any help I will be glad to have done "my bit."

Yours Mrs. Edward Hart
