[page 907] Testimony of Nathaniel Butler. By Mr. Baker. Ques. Was it in 1871 that the lady you spoke of was brought to the hospital. Ans. I think so. Ques. Where did you bring the lady from, from another asylum. Ans. No, I took her from the Revere House, Boston. She was carried to a private asylum in Mass. one day, and spent one night, taken out the next day because I was dissatisfied with the asylum. Ques. Was the expense considerable greater there than in a public asylum. Ans. Yes sir. I was dissatisfied with it, from the manner in which I found here the next morning. Ques. There were higher prices to be paid, from which you would naturally expect better treatment, still you decided to move her to a public asylum to this one here. Ans. Yes sir. Ques. Did you know something of this asylum before you brought the lady here. Ans. I knew what the public living in the vicinity would know and no more. Ques. Had you before you brought her here satisfied yourself in your own mind that this was a comfortable and proper place, where she would be well treated and
