If you will make that into three sentences, I will say yes to some and no to others, I have a recollection of one case lying sometime back and of one case occurring since the legislature convened. I will state exactly what occurred; a friend of mine said he proposed to put his wife in the hospital here and asked my opinion. I said I should hesitate, I should be very cautious before I did it; and I said I will see you again. I think I said you better see Dr. Harlow and describe the case and think more of it. By and by I saw him and he described the case to me. After the case was investigated and I understood it and found that she was a harmless, quiet woman, that would keep still entirely, and one that was apparently hopeless, I advised him that he had better put her there for a while and see, that in my judgment, a patient in such a condition as that would not suffer any very great injury, but if she was a violent patient and they would have to struggle with
