To William King Esquire Governor & the Hon. Council of the State of Maine,

In case of a removal of the present Sheriff of the County of Penobscot we the subscribers would respectfully recommend Joseph Carr Esqr. of Bangor as a Gentleman well qualified to fill that Office & request that he may be appointed.
