Dear Sir having understood that you sent a note to our Colonel that all who wish to be transfered into an artillery company could be I am one who wishes to be transfered and having had practice in that line I should prefer it to infantry if it can be done I wish to go into the 6 Maine Artillery which I understand is now forming there are quite a number which I can recomend which would thank you for the same favor please let me know at an early day meanwhile I remain yours truly Corp. Wm. Eaton Company G 2nd Maine Reg
