Bill - Act to set off a part of Starks and annex the same to Mercer, was read 1st & 2d time & Friday next at 10 o'clock assigned for a 3d reading.

On motion by Mr. Curtis of Freedom, Ordered, That the committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of authorizing the Secretary of State to distribute by mail instead of the manner now provided by law, to each town, plantation & City in this State a sufficient number of blank returns of scholars required by the 15th & 20th sections of an act entitled an act for the instruction of youth passed March 11th 1834, said blanks to be done up in newspaper form & directed to the Selectmen of the several towns & assessors of plantations. Sent up for concurrence.

Bill - to incorporate the Vassalboro High School was read 1st & 2d time and on motion of Mr. Abbott of Vassalboro was amended by striking out the word "Academy" and assigned for a 3d reading at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning.

Bill - An Act to incorporate the West Branch Boom Company was called up & on motion of Mr. Jarvis of Ellsworth referred to the Committee on Turnpikes, Bridges & Canals. Sent up for concurrence.
