Mr Burnam proposed to amend the same by inserting after the word "tendered" in the 34th line Sec. 1. the following words, to wit; or upon taking said oath, if said officers are satisfied from other evidence adduced in the case that such person is not duly qualified [all underlined] - and the question of adopting said amendment was ordered to be taken by yeas and nays. And said Bill, on motion of Mr Chandler, was ordered to lie on the table for further consideration.
