Bill to incorporate the Maine Episcopal Missionary Society was, on motion of Mr. Bartlett, taken up, who proposed to amend said Bill by adding at the end of the first section, the words, and the funds of said Society shall be subject to taxation - and the question of adopting said amendment, being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays, was decided in the negative as follows, to wit: Yeas. Messrs. Bartlett, Brown, Clark, Fish, F. Greene, Latham, Mantor, Miller, McIntire, Smith & Tobin 11. Nays. Messrs. Allen, Barnard, Burnham, Emmons, Farnham, C. Greene, McLellan, O'Brien, Pierce, Prescott and Read 11. And said Bill, on motion of Mr. Emmons, was laid upon the table.
