OFFICE OF GENERAL PASSENGER AGENT

PORTLAND. MAINE Dec. 28, 1917 File D-7-79-H

GOVERNMENT TRANSPORTATION [underlined]

Mr. Geo. McL. Presson, Adjutant General, Augusta, Maine.

Dear Sir:

Referring to telephone conversation, requesting us to deliver to Doctors Bell, Brown and Nichols, at Farmington, round trip trans- potation to Halifax, beg to advise that on December 26, on our tele- phone request, Agent at Farmington issued to each one of these, tic- kets to Portland and return, as he did not have proper transporta- ion for sale through to Halifax and return.

We instructed the Agent at Portland to issue them tickets Portland to Halifax and return on request and we are advised these three doctors, whom Ticket Agent Merritt happens to know, called at the ticket office on arrival that afternoon and Mr. Merritt informed them he had orders to issue them transportation and Pullman, which they said they would call for later, but we are in receipt of ad- vice that the gentlemen did not call, nor has Mr. Merritt had re- quest since then to issue transportation.

In view of the circumstances, will you kindly advise if the trip was cancelled and if we shall cancel the request on Portland to issue round trip transportation to Halifax and return.

Awaiting your advice, I am

Very truly yours, M.L. Harris[signature] General Passenger Agent.
