[Thermometer ordered] On motion of Mr. Dunlap , Ordered that the Secretary of this Board be authorized to procure a thermometer for the use of the Senate Chamber.
[Chaplain chosen] The Senate then proceeded to the choice of a Chaplain; on the first ballot, Revd. Elijah Kellogg had 10 votes, Revd. Russell Streeter had 6 votes, Revd. Samuel Rand had 3 votes, and Revd. Ichabod Nichols had 1 vote; and no choice was therefore effected. On the 2d Ballot Revd. Elijah Kellogg had 10 votes, Revd. Russell Streeter had 7 votes, Revd. Samuel Rand 2 votes, and there was 1 Blank Ballot. The Revd. Elijah Kellogg was then declared elected and Messr. Green, Parlin, & Dunn were appointed a Committee to wait on him and inform him of his election.

The Committee further report that the Votes from the following Towns and plantations were rejected, viz: from the town of Hancock in the County of Hancock, there being no town of
