Mother is at work on your shirts. She suffers from a cold she took in Worcester that has settled on her lungs. Persis is saying that Hellen [?] (Mrs. Gregg) is more unwell, + is coming home to stay with her mother. Mr. Wm. Child will move into Mr. Parris's house next week. John says the itch [underlined] has got into the School. He carries a bag of sulphur in his pocket to ward it off. He studies very hard. He is so much engaged, he hardly notices us on our return. I should rather do what you do, that is not so trying to the brain, than what he does. He is confined to his chamber, with his door shut, early + late. I will write you no more now.
