A communication was received from Amos Nichols Esq Secretary of State, transmitting a Report of the Committee appointed under a Resolve of the last Legislature, to examine the New System of Sur veying proposed by Jabez P Bradbury and the same were referred to the Committee on Literature + Literary Institutions in concurrence with the Senate.
The joint committee to whom was referred an order directing them to inquire into the expediency of altering the existing laws relative to the duties of School Committees +c reported that alteration is inexpedient read + accepted. Sent up for concurrence.
