Bridgton, taken from the last years files of the Senate, came down referred to the committee on Parishes &c for concurrence and the House concurred.
On the motion of Mr Kent of Bangor Ordered that the joint standing committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of amending the law relative to Highways so as to prescribe and fix the mode of giving notice by the locating Committee to the owners of land over which town and County roads may be laid - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.
On motion of Mr Rowell of Jefferson Ordered that the Senate be requested to take from their files and send to this House the petition of the Proprietors of the Dameriscotta [Damariscotta] Canal Corporation &c - read and passed. Sent up.
The committee of the House of Representatives to whom was referred the Messages of the Governor of the 8th & 9th inst together with the Register & Records of the Governor & Council, made a report, which was read & ordered to lie upon the table - and thereupon on motion of Mr Shaw of Wiscasset it was Ordered that three hundred Copies of said report together with the communication of the Secretary of State accompanying said report and explanatory of said Register & Records be printed under the direction of the Clerk for the use of the members.
On motion of Mr Smith of Newfield Ordered that a committee be appointed to take into consideration the subject of fixing the terms of service, and limiting the compensation of the several officers whose terms of service are not defined by the Constitution - and Messrs Smith of Newfield, White of Standish & Wilson of Edgecomb were appointed said Committee -
