On motion by Mr. Jarvis of Ellsworth Ordered, That the joint standing committee on Banks & Banking be directed to report the number of Banks and increased capital which they have reported the present session, the amount of Capital of each, where located, and the present amount of Bank Capital in those places - Sent up for concurrence.

On motion of Mr. Webb of Windham Ordered, That the Committee on the Judiciary be directed to inquire into the expediency of so far altering the law establishing the Municipal Court in the city of Portland as to make the fees of said Court the only compensation for the Judge and Recorder, and also to repeal so much of said act as prohibits the Judge from acting as an Attorney in certain cases. Sent up for concurrence.

Resolve in favor of Nicholas Pierce was read a second time & passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of Inhabitants of Brunswick for the abolition of capital punishment, was read & referred to the committee which have that subject under consideration. Set up for concurrence.
