Order from the House of Representatives, requesting the petition of Alexander Reed of Boothbay to empower Edmund Wilson to convey a certain parcel of land, to be taken from the files of the Senate and sent to the House, - read and passed in concurrence: and the said petition was accordingly sent down to the House of Representatives.
Order from the House of Representatives instructing the Committee on the Militia to inquire into the expediency of so amending the law that no officer of the Militia of this State shall receive any pay from the State, unless the adjutant General, on [or] some officer who may be designated for that purpose shall certify that such officer claiming to be paid, has faithfully performed his duty as required by law - read and passed, in concurrence.
On motion of Mr Greene of Somerset, Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of reducing the fees of the Clerks of the Judicial Courts, and of regulating the fee Bill, so as in no case to allow parties constructive travel and no more than three days attendance for plaintiffs in any action in which the defendant is defaulted, excepting in those cases where the Court, on special examination shall otherwise order - read & passed. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.
