Your letter written some days since, I have just recd having returned from Washington last Evening. As to new appointments I have none just at present to suggest to you. Capt Emerson I understand from Lt Col Varney is about to resign - on account of ill health, also Capt Foss of Company K. Should such be the case Col Varney will advise you as to future promotions. I intend being in Augusta on Monday and hope to meet you then, I am very anxious to have my command filled up to the maximum standard as soon as possible, believing that the sending of regts home to recruit will eventually
