Williamburgh 11th Oct 1825 Mr. William Carleton Sir I have rec'd yours of 29th Sept enclosing Six Dollars for the balance of J Erwins taxes + enclose a receipt for the whole -- I see no prospect of selling the land very soon but should be glad to relieve[?] Mr Erwins farm [?] if I could. I can not however [?] he wanted to exchange it for Maps of Maine. If he is disposed to do this I will give him [stricken] & (if I can find maps enough unsold which I can foresee [inserted] ) I will give him sixty four maps plain, which which are $2 each, or thirty two annotated on [?] which are $4 each, or the amount in some of each sort. If you like the proposition please to let me know + I will see if I can then produce the maps + write you as soon as I can -- There has been no land sold in the town this year -- I suppose this lot could not be sold at 1.50 per acre 10 years credit -- perhaps not for 1.00 -- land everywhere in this region is full + growing more so -- Respectfully your abt [?] M G.
