As the President has called for three hundred thousand additional troops, and as promotions are now to be made among the deserving officers of regimens, and as my officers will necessarily share in these promotions, it will not perhaps be unpleasing to you while it is gratifying to me, to be able to state, that during your term of service in this regiment as Captain of Company G now nearly fifteen months, I can but express my entire satisfaction in every respect, and furthermore can fully endorse you in any higher position satisfied that wherever stationed you will as ever prove yourself not only a brave competent officer, but a thorough gentleman.
