�141 Dedham Aug 8 1862 Dr Sir I find Here Lieut Edwin Bates 8th Me Reg Co (G) claims to be absent by reason of Dicharge. Said his is dated HeadQuarters E.C. Hilton Head S.C. Dec 13 1861. Special Order No 77. "The resignation of Lieut E Bates 8th Reg Me Vol tendered on account of ill health is accepted to take effect this day.
