Agreeably to assignment the House proceeded to choose by ballot on their part a Major General for the Seventh Division - and on counting the ballots it appeared the whole number given was 118 - necessary to a choice 60 - Brig. Gen. John Balkam had 117 & was declared duly elected in concurrence with the Senate.
