I have the honor to recommend the following officers for promotions I do this at the present time to secure to deserving men positions which the casualties of this campaign may otherwise prevent their receiving.
I would recommend
1st Lieut. Weston H. Keene of co. D, to be Captain of co. "A" vice (as used here, meaning: in place of, a substitute for) Morrell killed in battle.
2 Lieut. William K. Bickford of co. H, to be 1st. Lieut. Of co. "H" vice Morrell promoted.
