On motion of Mr. Bartlett, Ordered, that the Committee on the Militia be directed to inquire into the expediency of so alerting the Militia law, approved March 8, 1834, that persons may be required to do Military duty from the age of twenty one to thirty or thirty five instead of from eighteen to forty - Also of reducing the pay to soldiers from Fifty to Twenty five Cents - read and passed. On motion of Mr. Smith, Ordered, that the Joint Standing Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of amending the second section of an additional Act regulating the Inspection of Beef and Pork, passed March 28, 1831. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

On motion of Mr. Barnard, Ordered, that a message be sent to the House of Representatives proposing a Convention of the two Branches of the Legislature, in the Representatives Hall on Wednesday the fourth inst. at eleven o'clock in the forenoon for the purpose of choosing, by joint ballot a Treasurer of State for the current political year. Which message was delivered by the Secretary.
