� One day in the spring when the freshets are very high and the steam ferry had all I could do to struggle against the current, father saw a young Indian with a squaw by his side waiting on the ship. The girl had a bouquet in her hand which she fondled delicately and handled with as mush grace as a fine lady [?] it consisted of only two early dandelions and three or four spears of grace. Something caused conviction. My father asked some Sebattis Dana -

Finally the man inquired what the face [?] and was pretty surprised to find it one [?]. "One [?]!" "You get him [?] [?]" [?] the woman
