State of Maine Augusta July 19. 1862

To whom it may concern, This is to certify, that John Rand a private of Co. G. Me. 5th regt. Capt. Patch was honorably discharged on the 17th day of July 1862 at Augusta Maine and his papers are in our hands for the purpose of collecting his monthly pay from the U.S.

John A. Upton. Otisfield. Co. G. Me. 10th has a furlough from Aug. 9th to Sept. 8th By order of Maj. M. Levit Prov. Marshal. Given at Hagerstown. Md. J.B. McRee Acting Surg. in Hospital. He is very ill but probably will not need a furlough longer than to Sept. 8th
