5.19--Bureau of Public Improvements. Created by P.L. 1957, c. 340.
Duties--require development of long -range public improvements for all departments and agencies of the State; regularly inspect State -owned and leased buildings; report to controlling department heads whatever construction, repairs, alterations and improvements are deemed necessary; advise departments and agencies concerning engineering and architectural matters; review operation and maintenance of State-owned and leased buildings; prepare data at request of Governor or Legislature pertaining to existing or proposed public improvements; approve selection of architects and engineers, and plan for public improvements; inspect materials, equipment, and methods used and changes in plans in making public improvements; inventory all removable equipment belonging to the State; demolish obsolete buildings; maintain complete files of plans and drawings of public improvements; supervise State House and grounds; control the public park in Augusta; provide food services in the State Office Building; assign rooms in State Buildings; lease or approve leasing of facilities required by the State; purchase or contract for utility services; make rules and regulations.
