[Committee to wait on the Governor elect]
Holland, Campbell and Fairbanks be a Committee with such as the House may join, to wait on Albion K. Parris and inform him that he has been elected Governor of the State of Maine for the ensuing political year agreeably to the provisions of the Constitution; and that the Senate and House of Representatives will convene in the Representatives' Chamber to qualify him for the discharge of the duties of that Office agreeably to the Constitution, whenever it may be convenient for him to attend for that purpose. Sent down for concurrence and came up concurred, and Messrs. Goodenow, Williams, Talbot, Pike & Pitts were joined.
[Committee on Literature &c]
On motion of Mr. Dunlap, Ordered that a Joint Standing Committee be appointed, to be denominated "The Committee on Literature and Literary Institutions." Sent down for concurrence and came up concurred.
[Committee on Claims upon the General Government]
On motion of Mr. Green, Ordered that Messrs. Green & Ripley with such as the House may join, be a Committee to take into consideration what measures this Legislature ought to adapt, if any, relating to the claims of Massachusetts and Maine upon the General Government for disbursements in the late war, with leave to report by Resolve or otherwise. Sent down for concurrence and came up concurred, and Messrs. Adams, Williams & Allen were joined.
